Damn Jet Lag!!

I'm not sure what I've done, but I've really turned myself around...I'm not even on Eastern Standard time either! I think I might have over-thought this whole thing and put myself on Phillipines time. WTF!?

So last night I was up until like 0425! So just try to guess what happened today!? I SLEPT ALL DAMN DAY and now it's like 8 pm and I'm wide awake. My solution: I'm going to just take 22 tylenol pms and call it a day at about 11 so that I can make it to work on time.

What could possibly go wrong??

(I'm kidding mother! No need to call the hospitals! I'll only take 9. KIDDING AGAIN!)

However, plus side? I have not eaten all day! Clearly, I'm getting all psyched up for Ramadan that starts here on a day that can never be known until you show up at work and all the locals are crabby, and then by noon WE are all crabby because we realize that all the restaurants are closed because WHY would they be open if nobody is going to be eating until it gets dark? HOWEVER, you realize that you didn't pack a lunch because WHO KNEW that Ramadan was going to be starting TODAY!? Sufficie it to say, the start of Ramadan (for Christians) is ugly.

Note to self: start hoarding food in your office. Hide it so that the others in the Embassy cannot find it. Locate secure area in which to eat your hoarded food so that you are not seen by the others who may cause an uncomfortable situation when you have to explain to them that you do not now, and never will share. It's just better to remain a closet eater (as is my norm, so it's all good).

Although, maybe I shouldn't turn my jet lag around! Maybe I should just remain on this new schedule for the whole of Ramadan. THEN, when I wake up it will be dark and I will have plenty of food options.

Now all I have to do is convince Paul to allow us to impletment and alternate work schedule to accomodate my new timezone theory.

I hate to share my hoarded chocolate.. I always have jet lag when I'm on my vacation and when I get home - I perfectly fine.... must be my stubborn nature to stick to California time!
Love,
Kelly

Back away from the tylenol PM's Not good.

Maybe you can put a secret vending machine in wall where a trip switch will activate it.

I am sure one of the engineers there can rig SOMETHING up for you!

The missing video is up!

Welcome to my world. I don't even travel that much, but my sleep dial is always off! I go to bed around midnight and wake up at 3. THREE! Then I lay there awhile wishing sleep would love me before falling into a coma about 20 minutes before my alarm goes off.

Now you know why I'm so crabby all the time!

When I've traveled out west, I end up wanting to get in bed around 8 p.m. and then I'm up around 3 or 4 a.m. It really sucks.

Oh, wait. I think that is my current sleep schedule.

Sorry. I'm no help.

I just wish Ramadan would be at the same time every year. It would be so much easier to keep track of when my favorite restaurants will be open.

Oh crap! Ramadan, now I'll never find a decent restaurant open. I thought it was in September. I can never keep it straight.

Isn't it every man for himself in times like these?

You need some jerky to hold you over!! My heavens you did take back a suitcase of treats from the states?? You said something about going to a grocery store with delightful children. Was this for some Sudan snacks?

Restaurants?? Do they have children in their restuarants?? Is it like a chuck e cheese or mcdonalds??

Maybe you should have an emergency food kit for Ramadan, like an emergency earthquake kit.

I really like your theory! Change work, sleeping and eating around for this occasion/holiday.

And just think, if you don't, you could shrivel up and blow away! Oh gosh, Michel. . .don't do that!!! It wouldn't be the same here without you!

Hope you've turned your jetlag around. A few months ago I flew about 24 hours all up, Melbourne-Sydney-Vancouver-Whitehorse and then did it all in reverse a few days later!

Ah, Ramadan. It sucked in Bahrain because they were really serious about it; but in Cairo, they were civilized.
